Hydro Jetting Cost in Los Angeles: What You Will Pay and Why
Short answer: nationally, hydro jetting typically runs $350 to $600 and can reach $2,000 for heavily scaled or complex lines (Angi, updated Oct 2026). Clearing a simple sewer main clog in Los Angeles is quoted at $250 to $1,000 (Angi, Feb 2026). Our partner’s own range is $350 to $600 for a typical residential line. Line length, access, severity and emergency timing move the number most.
Before you agree to any price
- Ask what is included: jetting time, camera run, video copy
- Ask if the price is flat or by the hour
- Ask for the camera footage after the job
- Get the total in writing, including any emergency or after-hours fee

What moves the price up or down
Two lines that both “need jetting” can be priced very differently. These are the factors that do the most.
- Length and depth of the line: a longer line takes more hose and more time.
- Access: an open cleanout is quick. No cleanout can mean extra steps.
- How much is in the pipe: light grease is faster than a thick root mass or heavy scale.
- Camera pass: a camera before and after adds time and a video record.
- Pipe condition: a fragile pipe needs a slower approach.
- Timing: after-hours or emergency calls usually cost more.
- Commercial vs residential: larger pipe and more branches take longer.
Jetting vs snaking: why jetting costs more up front
A snake is a cable and a motor, so it is quick and cheap. Hydro jetting needs a pump, a long hose and a water supply, so the visit costs more. The difference shows up over time.
| Snake | Hydro jetting | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront | Lower | Higher |
| Cleans the pipe wall | No, opens a hole | Yes |
| Repeat clogs | Common | Less likely when buildup is the cause |
| Best for | A simple fresh clog | Grease, roots, scale, repeat clogs |
If your drain clogs again every few weeks, several snake visits can cost more than one jetting. See hydro jetting vs snaking.
The camera inspection add-on
A camera is the only way to see what is in the line. Angi lists camera inspections at $275 to $1,800, a wide spread because of line length, access and whether the plumber also locates the line. Ask whether a camera pass is included in the jetting price and whether you get the video.

What should be included in a quote
- The service: jetting, camera pass, or both.
- Whether the price is flat or by the hour.
- Any access work, such as clearing a path or removing a cap.
- After-hours or emergency fees, if they apply.
- A video copy of the camera pass.
- A written summary of what was found.
If a price comes by phone only, ask for it in writing before anyone starts.
Emergency and after-hours pricing
Backups do not wait for business hours. Expect an after-hours call to cost more than a scheduled one. Ask for the extra charge up front.
If water is coming up now, see emergency sewer backup for the steps to take while you wait.
Commercial and restaurant pricing
Commercial lines are larger and carry more load, so jobs take longer. A scheduled plan after the first camera pass can cost less than repeated emergency visits. See commercial hydro jetting and restaurant hydro jetting.
How to keep the cost down
- Find your cleanout before the visit and clear a path to it.
- Stop using water as soon as you notice a backup, to limit damage.
- Do not use chemical cleaners on a backed-up line.
- Ask for a camera pass first, so you only pay for the fix you need.
- If your line clogs repeatedly, ask for a maintenance schedule instead of repeat emergency visits.
Check whether a city program applies to you. See the sewer lateral rebate guide.
Who sets the price
Hydro Jetting Los Angeles is a referral service operated by Hydro Jet Pros LA. We are not the plumbing contractor. When you call or send a request, we pass it to Mike Anderson, a local plumber with 12+ years of experience. His team does the work, and you pay the plumber, not us. We speak English and Spanish, and hours are 7 AM to 9 PM.
You get a written price before any work starts. If anything changes on site, the plumber explains it and updates the quote before continuing.
Common questions
How much does hydro jetting cost in Los Angeles?
Published ranges are $350 to $600 for a typical job nationally and $250 to $1,000 for clearing a simple main clog in Los Angeles, per Angi. Our partner quotes $350 to $600 for a typical residential line. Your line sets the final number.
Why is hydro jetting more expensive than snaking?
It needs more equipment and time. It cleans the pipe wall, which is why it often lasts longer when buildup is the cause.
Is a camera inspection included?
Ask. It can be priced separately, and Angi lists $275 to $1,800 for camera inspections.
Do I pay you or the plumber?
You pay the plumber. We are a referral service and do not take payment from you.
Are there extra fees for emergencies?
Often yes for after-hours calls. Ask for the amount up front.
Can I get a quote by phone?
You can get a range by phone, but ask for the written price before work starts.
Is there a city rebate for sewer work?
Check the LASAN rebate guide. Eligibility rules apply.
What if the plumber finds a damaged pipe?
They explain it and give a separate written price for the repair. Cleaning does not fix a broken pipe.
